Apple quietly adds 2TB Time Capsule

New 2TB Time Capsule replaces the 500GB model

Apple has quietly added 2TB Time Capsule for additional storage. Back in March, Apple had refreshed its Time Capsule bringing dual-channel network connectivity option. Time Capsule, automatic backup for Mac-PC and 802.11n WiFi Base station, could connect devices in 802.11g and 802.11n channel modes simultaneously. Apparently, Apple's Time Capsule is different from Yahoo's Time Capsule, in case you're confused.

The new Time Capsule model with 2TB storage capacity is available at the price of $499 (Rs. 24,000 approx.) and the 500GB capacity bearing Time Capsule has been dropped from the Apple Store. Apple has quietly dropped 500GB Time Capsule for $299 (Rs. 14,400 approx.) from its lineup and slashed price of 1TB Time Capsule from $499 (Rs. 24,000 approx.) to $299 (Rs. 14,400 approx.).
The new models have dual-channel networking feature that allows broadcasting WiFi at 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz frequencies. Also, the Guest Networking features allows setting up second network for guest users 'without' giving away the WiFi password. Of course, the 2TB Time Capsule can be used as external storage and also to upload/download files from a MobileMe account.
